Egyptians fled their home country due political reasons
Since the military coup that took place in Egypt on July 3rd, 2013, thousands of Egyptian political dissidents have fled their homeland for fear of getting arrested.
Living in exile in the four corners of the world- From Southeast Asia to Sudan and South Africa, all the way to Turkey and Sweden, they live in constant worry from what is to come.
Despite the constant anxiety and fear of the unknown future, they actively cling to their identity while trying to build a better future away from home.
-These are portraits from the book that I am working on:
I have started my journey on this book in 2016. I met Egyptian exiles who live in the following seven countries: Sudan, Malaysia, Sweden, Italy, Turkey, Ireland, Georgia.
I will continue to document the lives of Egyptian exiles in other countries and include them in my book that will be published by the end of 2022.
